Introduction to Sculptural Welding: Flowers
In this class students will learn the basics of welding sculptures by making a magnolia flower on a branch out of mild steel. Skills covered in this class are:
- Templating and Prototyping
- Cutting and Forming
- MIG Welding Thin-Gauge Metal
- Heat Coloring Metal
This class does not require any prior experience with welding or metal fabrication but does require the ability to work around high temperatures, loud noises, sharp edges, and power tools. Protective gloves, face shields, and ear plugs will be provided; students should arrive wearing non-synthetic long sleeve clothing (welding arcs can rapidly sunburn exposed skin, and molten spatter easily melts through synthetic fabrics). Closed toe shoes are required to enter the welding studio. In the interest of safety, the instructor reserves the option to deny students from participating in some class activities in the event they are not wearing appropriate clothing.

Really great learning experience. Brenda inspires confidence in what you are doing, while making you feel safe and capable.
It’s so nice to be able to put your hands on tools you’ve never used before without having to make a financial commitment by buying those tools first! I really enjoyed using the welders and plasma cutter. The instructor was very attentive and patient. I’m glad I took this class!
The Sculptural Welding class was fascinating! I learned an incredible amount in such a small window of time. Our instructor was knowledgeable and helped me to feel comfortable finding my own rhythm with the different tools. Would love to take more classes with Brenda.
