Ever wonder how the Romans held those togas up? Wonder no more. They used the fibula, possibly the earliest safety pin. This piece of jewelry dating back to Rome can provide you with tremendous leeway in design and execution as you differentiate your jewelry from another metalsmiths.The fibula is a one piece, multi-dimensional brooch which can be manipulated and adorned to create truly unique jewelry. The class will first go over making a taper and then proceed to create a fibula.


The class is limited to 2 students. Instruction will be by the “discuss, demo, do” approach.


Materials fee, $520.00 (paid directly to the instructor) includes copper and sterling silver wire as well as studio supplies
