Intro and Intermediate Wheel throwing All levels of clay experience welcome! Have you ever wanted to try making pottery? Has it been a while since you’ve thrown on the wheel and you want to refresh your throwing skills? This is for you! 6 wheel throwing classes! Students will meet for 2.5 hrs, 6:30pm- 9pm, once a week for six weeks You will be able to progress at your own speed and instruction will be catered to your particular skill level. The class must have 4 people to run. This class series will take you through the various stages of wheel throwing such as, wedging, centering and the actual shaping of a piece, trimming and glazing. The first 2 classes will be heavy in throwing instruction. Around the third or fourth class most students feel comfortable exploring the wheel with little instruction. The last 2 classes will focus on decoration and glazing. 25lbs of clay will be provided. Be sure to wear old clothes or bring an apron and towel. Basic beginner pottery tools can be purchased here https://square.link/u/8ch6pJ1k. $15 Tool kits will be available for pick up during the first class. The class will be held at Liberty Arts. This is an artist collective warehouse environment. There may be loud noises and other artists present in their spaces during the lesson. There is no central heat or AC. The summer classes will use fans to help with the heat. Space heaters will be used for the winter classes. If you have any questions about the class, please email me. COVID INFORMATION Everyone will have to sign a Covid-19 waiver. If you have any flu-like symptoms we ask that you stay home. Unfortunately we cannot offer any make up classes. Since many surfaces are shared in a pottery studio everyone must understand they are taking a risk by participating in classes. Shared wheels, tables and tools will be sanitized after each use. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own pottery tools and towels. Community tools and towels will be available but you must use them at your own risk. Storage space for tools and clay will be provided. Because of our small space we cannot maintain 6ft distance throughout the entire class. As uncomfortable as it can be to wear for long periods, Masks will be required during class.
