Glassblowing for Beginners
In this class, you will learn how to gather molten glass on the end of a blow pipe and insert a “bubble” as it cools from its molten state. From this starting point, you will learn how to:
- Reheat the glass in a glory hole
- Use hand tools to shape the glass
- Add color to jazz up your piece
- Transfer your piece from the blowpipe to a punty
- Finish the piece and prepare the annealer
You will work in a 2-person team, alternating between the glass blower (gaffer) and the important role of assisting the gaffer.
