Intro and Intermediate Wheel throwing

All levels of clay experience welcomed!
Have you ever wanted to try making pottery? Has it been a while since you’ve thrown on the wheel and you want to refresh your throwing skills? This is for you!
6 wheel throwing classes!
Students will meet for 2.5 hrs, 6:30pm- 9pm, once a week for six weeks
(Email to customize a class schedule)

Because of the small class size, max of 5 people, you will be able to progress at your own speed and instruction will be catered to your particular skill level. The class must have 2 people to run.

This class series will take you through the various stages of wheel throwing such as, wedging, centering and the actual shaping of a piece, trimming and glazing. The first 2 classes will be heavy in throwing instruction. Around the third or fourth class most students feel comfortable exploring the wheel with little instruction. The last 2 classes will focus on decoration and glazing.

25lbs of clay will be provided. 3 options of clay. Little loafers (a smooth white clay body) Brownstone (a semi smooth brown clay body) and Speckled Brownstone (a semi smooth brown clay body with speckles)
Be sure to wear old clothes or bring an apron and towel.
Basic beginner pottery tools can be purchased online or at craft stores. ($12-$15)

The class will be held at Liberty Arts. This is an artist collective warehouse environment. There may be loud noises and other artists present in their spaces during the lesson.
If you have any questions about the class, or would like to see Liberty Arts before signing up please email me.

COVID INFORMATION
Everyone will have to sign a Covid-19 waiver and we will check your temperature before entry at every class and open studio. Anyone with a temperature of 100 or higher will not be allowed entry. If you have any flu-like symptoms we ask that you stay home. Any classes you miss we can makeup at another time.

Since many surfaces are shared in a pottery studio everyone must understand they are taking a risk by participating in classes. Shared wheels, tables and tools will be sanitized after each use. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own pottery tools and towels. Community tools and towels will be available but you must use them at your own risk. Cubby storage space for tools will not be provided. We will have storage space for your bag of clay.

Because of our small space we cannot maintain 6ft distance throughout the entire class. As uncomfortable as it can be to wear for long periods, Masks will be required during class and throughout Liberty.

Teaching pottery without any hands on encounters will be difficult. I will provide multiple demonstrations to help everyone along. Anyone who is ok with hands on instructions please let me know. I will sanitize before and after and have some sanitizer available during class.
