Introduction to Forged Jewelry
Forging metal has been around almost from day 1. Learn how to cold forge metal to make exciting contemporary jewelry.
This class will introduce students to the use of the hammer as a primary tool in jewelry making. Focusing on the idea of directional forging, students will get an appreciation of what a maker can do with only a hammer and wire. Students will learn how to taper wire, form a bangle, make stylish contemporary earrings, and make chain links for an attractive standalone necklace. Students will work with copper and brass wire. Silver wire and sheet will be available from the instructor for an additional fee.
